Earth Hour - 23rd March

Here at Easton Primary School we care a lot about our world. So this year we are taking part in WWF's Earth Hour.

WWF’s Earth Hour is a unique annual phenomenon that focuses the world’s attention on our amazing planet, and how we need to protect it.

At 8.30pm on 23 March hundreds of millions of people will turn off their lights for one hour, on the same night, all across the world in a huge, symbolic show of support. It’s always a memorable and spectacular event with places from New York to New Delhi going dark for the hour.

All you have to do is turn off your lights for one hour at 8.30pm on Saturday 23rd March.

Uganda Link School Trip 2013 - Kinyara Sugar Works Primary School

During February half term Miss Payne and Miss Watkins visited Uganda to share teaching techniques and resources with our link school - Kinyara Sugar Works Primary in the Masindi region.

As we do every year, the Easton staff members worked closely with the children and teachers of Kinyara to improve learning across both schools.

Year 1 Science Trip to @Bristol

The whole of Year 1 enjoyed a fun and interesting learning experience at the @Bristol Science Centre recently.

We learned about Sound and Light in the Planetarium, and had a great time discovering scientific facts and information in the rest of the interactive centre.

The Planetarium is a pleasure to the senses of sight and hearing.

The Big Pedal 2013 - Friday March 8th

The Big Pedal is a massive cycle and scoot to school event.

How massive? In the Big Pedal 2012 over 890,000 journeys were made by bike and scooter, by pupils at nearly 1,000 schools, representing a combined total of over 310,000 pupils.

It’s not just big, it’s brilliant: on Friday March 8th Easton Primary School will be competing against other schools for the highest number of children, parents and school staff to cycle or scooter to school.

To win, we need as many people as possible to cycle or scooter to school on Friday March 8th, because we are being fit, healthy and active, reducing our school carbon footprint and giving us the best possible chance to win an amazing school prize.

BSLC2 class today learnt the science behind how beautiful glass ornaments are made from a few simple ingredients.

Year 3 and 4 Science Show - The Theory of Matter

The 'Explorer Dome' team came to Easton today with an unusual and exciting collection of models and demonstrations to investigate the particle theory of matter.

Solids, liquids and gases - what is the difference and what happens as they change state? Unusual substances such as liquid nitrogen and solid carbon dioxide were used to bring alive this important part of the National Curriculum.

Monday 21st January 2013 is an Inservice day. School will be closed to children for staff training.

Christmas Steel Drum Performance by Year 3

This term Year 3 have been learning how to play steel drums in their music lessons.

Yesterday, they gave a fantastic perfomance to an anticipatory Key Stage 2 audience, the amazing results can be seen in the video below.

Christmas Celebrations

Lots of extra fun things have been going on at school this week in between the usual fun learning.

The whole school had a very special visitor; Santa took time out of his busy schedule to pay us a visit here at Easton Primary School.
